Gloria Fratesi Sullivan, 90, of Leland, died Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville surrounded by her loving family.
She was born September 11, 1926 in Shaw and was the daughter of Sam and Katie Barbetti Fratesi. Gloria was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church in Leland. She was the mother of three families, raising her brothers and sisters after her mother's death, her six children and then her brother's children. She was a wonderful cook and made the best ravioli and homemade bread. Gloria was a loving and attentive mother to all the children she raised and will always be remembered for her kind-hearted nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Sullivan; four brothers, Sammy Fratesi, Paul Fratesi, Charles Fratesi, and Mack Fratesi; her sister, Mary Rose Fratesi; and two sons-in-law, Frank DeLaughter and John Travis Tharp.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memory four sons, Charles "Chuck" Sullivan and his wife Doris of Leland, Ronny Sullivan and his wife Kaye of Inverness, Mike Sullivan and his wife Pam of Caraway, Arkansas, and Robert Sullivan and his wife Laura of Leland; two daughters, Debbie Tharp of Greenville and Tammy Redwine and her husband Harold of Greenville; sister, Viola Fratesi Butler and her husband Tom of Greenville; fifteen grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; special niece and caregiver, Dewanna Carol Fratesi; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 10:00 am until the 11:30 am Rosary. Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00 pm all at St. James Catholic Church in Leland. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements.
