Harry
Blakely
Dec 2, 1947 — Oct 13, 2023
Belzoni
Harry Truman Blakely, 75, of Belzoni, passed away Friday, October 13, 2023, at St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson.
Harry was born December 2, 1947, in Avalon, to Calvin Eugene and Ruby Lee Lyles Blakely. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Jackson for 17 years prior to his retirement. Harry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved his family more than anything. Harry and his family made many happy memories while on the boat fishing or in the woods hunting. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. Although dementia took many of his memories from him, the words of all his favorite gospel songs were always with him, and he loved to listen to them and sing.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Marion Blakely, Robert Earl Blakely, and Billy Blakely; and two sisters, Ruby Lillian Baker and Annie Mae Goss.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary Jane Hawkins Blakely of Belzoni; son, Randy Lee Blakely (Kristie) of Kosciusko; daughter, Angela Faye Shaw (Zelie) of Kosciusko; three brothers, David Blakely of Oxford, Dean Blakely of Wisconsin, and Larry Blakely of Alabama; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 16, 2023, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at Beulah Baptist Church, 5249 Four Mile Road, Inverness, MS 38753. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm at the church with Rev. Lee Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Methena Cemetery in Belzoni. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
