Obituary

Helen Marie Denson Bowie, 93, of Indianola, Mississippi, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 at her home.

Mrs. Bowie was born January 22, 1925 in Hanceville, Alabama to Issac and Ruth Hendrix Denson. She married Skeets Cleveland Bowie in 1948 and together they made their home in Greenville, Mississippi until moving to Indianola in 1960. Mrs. Bowie worked for Supervalu – Lewis Grocer in printing for many years until her retirement. She was a "Super Mom" to her children and she always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Bowie was a very selfless person and was always concerned about others. She also loved her cats and other animals as well. Mrs. Bowie would always take in stray animals and give them a home. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Indianola.

Mrs. Bowie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Howard Denson.

Mrs. Bowie is survived by three daughters, Linda Bowie of Indianola, Lavonda Davis of Memphis, Gail Burgess and her husband Harold of Clarksdale; one son, Ronnie Bowie of Gulfport; one sister, Jean Milligan and her husband Ferrell of Hanceville, Alabama; four grandchildren, Michelle Schaal, Dustin Burgess, Mark Davis, and Parker Reynolds; ten great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 8, 2018 from 2:00 pm until the 3:00 pm funeral service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
