Helen
Johnson
Jul 11, 1942 — May 16, 2026
Isola
Helen L. Johnson, 83, of Isola, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, surrounded by people who loved her very much.
She was born on July 11, 1942, in Coffeeville. She enjoyed her blues music and dancing until she passed. She was a very caring, loving person. Everyone who knew her loved her sweet personality. She showed her love daily to the ones she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James L. Melton, Sr., and Jewel Coleman Linginfliter; her three children, Banita Carol Johnson, Carl Owen Johnson, and Stephanie Johnson; her sister and brother-in-law, Katie McClain and Donald McClain; her brother, James L. Melton, Jr.; her nephew, James E. McClain; and the love of her life, Les Sydney.
Her survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews. All of which she treated as her own. Her dream was to live long enough to see her great-great-nieces and nephews graduate from college, and she was there to see Jacy Eldridge, James Michael Beckwith, and Jada Eldridge walk across the stage. She had several adopted children that she loved very much and was so proud of them, even though it wasn't legal, it was to her and them (you know who you are). She adopted Turbo as her grandson, and she thought he hung the moon.
Arrangements are pending and will be announced when finalized. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
