Helen Tharp Scott, 95, of Isola, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, at Indianola Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Indianola.

Helen was born December 6, 1927, in Humphreys County, to Speedy and Maude Duke Tharp. She married the love of her life, Don Scott. Don served in the Air Force, and they were stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Don passed away suddenly at the age of 37, and Helen never dated or remarried. She always loved Isola, so following Don's death, she and their son, Barry, moved back to Isola. Helen loved flowers and working in her beautiful yard. She made the best caramel cakes. Helen worked as a teller at Bank Plus for many years prior to her retirement. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Isola.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Scott; and four brothers, Thomas Tharp, Gaylon Tharp, Billy Don Tharp, and Jimmy Tharp.

She is survived by her son, Barry Scott of Dallas, Texas; one grandson, Jason Scott of Hattiesburg; one great grandson, Reno Scott of Petal; and her sister-in-law, Lois Tharp of Isola.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Belzoni Cemetery in Belzoni with Rev. Jimmy McLendon officiating. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
