Herbert Marshall Herman Jr, 74, of Rolling Fork, passed away Thursday January 23, 2025 in Greenville, MS.

Marshall was born on October 16, 1950 in Cary, MS to Herbert and Lila Ruth Herman. He grew up in Mayersville, MS and lived most of his life in Rolling Fork. Marshall graduated from Rolling Fork High School and Delta State University, earning his degree in Social Work. He was in the National Guard for six years. Marshall worked for the Mississippi Department of Human Services for many years prior to his retirement. He loved the outdoors, his dogs and family. Fishing the Mississippi River was his favorite pastime. Marshall was a member of Rolling Fork First Baptist Church and choir.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Herman, and his wife, Helen Herman.

Marshall is survived by his mother, Lila Ruth Herman; his three daughters, Michelle Williams (Skipper) of Picayune, Amy Ferguson (Hank) of Inverness, and Emily Darnell (Davis) of Glen Allan; three siblings, Linda Nichols, Steven Herman (Leslie), and Gary Herman (Linda); eight grandchildren, Matt Williams (April), Hannah Williams, Sarah Stockstill (Kyle), Abbie Williams, Eli Ferguson, Emma Darnell, Katherine Darnell, John Davis Darnell; and one great granddaughter, Lynnlee Williams.

Visitation will be Monday, January 27, 2025, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Rolling Fork First Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Britt Williamson officiating.  Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork under the direction of Burton Funeral Home of Indianola.
