Hiram Windell Hill, Sr., 84, of Indianola, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at South Sunflower County Hospital.
Hiram was born April 16, 1934 in Dublin, Mississippi to Joel Harris Hill, Sr. and Aleane Mitchell Hill. Hiram was a graduate of Indianola High School and Mississippi State University. He was a Mississippi Army National Guard veteran and a lifelong farmer. Hiram was very active in his community, serving on the Board of Directors of Community Bank, Indianola Public School Board, Delta Industries, and Fishland. He was a very active member of First United Methodist Church, where he was a member of Schwartz-Ward-Rose Bible Class. Hiram was a member of the Indianola Rotary Club where he received the Paul Harris Fellowship.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Aleane Hill; brother, Norris Hill; and sister, Frankie Sudduth.
Hiram is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Brantley Hill of Indianola; four children, Hiram Windell "Winn" Hill, Jr. of Forrest City, Arkansas; Helen-Ann Hill and her husband Lance Pabst of Little Rock, Arkansas, Mitchell Brantley Hill and his wife Deven of Indianola, and Hardy Myers Hill and his wife Jennifer of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; brother, Joel Hill and his wife Linda of Greenville; six grandchildren, Barbara Lagasse Day and her husband Greg, Mary Mitchell Hill, Brantley Williams Hill, James Tartt Hill, Emma Gregory Hill, and Gabby Gauthier Hill; and three great-grandchildren, Hannah Day, Richard Day, and George Hiram Day.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 9:30 am until the 11:00 am funeral service at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 86, Indianola, MS 38751, Indianola Academy, PO Box 967, Indianola, MS 38751, or any charity of the donor's choice.
