Obituary

Howard Foster was born November 23, 1940, in Jonestown, MS. He departed this life Friday, May 2, 2025, at his home in Sunflower, MS.

Howard was a man of few words but many actions. He was praised his entire life for his strong work ethic. He was such a hard worker that he was nicknamed "One Step" for years because he was always one step ahead of everyone else, getting the job done.

Howard married the love of his life, Linda Lee Petrie Foster, on February 23, 1968. Together, they had Kenneth Foster and Michelle Foster Baker, the greatest joys of their lives. Howard raised his children with the same strong work ethic and the phrase "Don't do as I do, do as I say," not wanting his children to make the same mistakes he made.

Howard loved the Lord. He attended Pilgrim Rest Church of God in Indianola, MS. He loved pickin' a guitar, singing, listening to music, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family.

Howard is survived by his wife, Linda Lee Petrie Foster; his son, Kenneth Foster (Lucy); his daughter, Michelle Baker (Cedrick II); his grandson, Caleb Free; his sister, Fanny E. Ficklen; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola, Mississippi, on Saturday, May 10th, at 11 a.m.
