Hoyet Wilson Lewis, 77, of Indianola, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Indywood Estates in Cleveland.

Hoyet was born and raised in Cleveland to Joe and Frances Hardin Lewis. He was a graduate of Cleveland High School. Hoyet worked in construction and maintenance at many places over the years and retired from Irrigation Equipment. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying and watching car racing. Hoyet was a good man and was kind to everyone he met. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Polly, and a wonderful father and grandfather.

Hoyet was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Polly Williams Lewis, and sister, Kay Lewis Bridges.

He is survived by his son, Steven Austin Lewis (Susan Pope Barfield) of Cleveland; three stepdaughters, Fran Slawson of Indianola, Lisa White (Jay) of Inverness, and Carol Kuhn of Indianola; two sisters, Brenda Lewis Junkin and Martha Lewis Walters; two granddaughters, Casey Nicole Lewis Milan and Courtney Elizabeth Lewis both of Cleveland; and three great grandchildren, Molly-Kate Brock, Waylon Brock, and Myles Milan.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Bro. Brad McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
