Hubert Oscar Robertson, 97, of Indianola, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022, at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola.

He was born February 2, 1925, in Iron City, Tennessee to JO and Lula Belle  Robertson. Hubert served in the Merchant Marines in World War II and served in the US Army in the Korean War. He moved to the Mississippi Delta in December 1961 to farm and he farmed for many years prior to his retirement. Hubert was a member of the American Legion Post 2 and Clark Lyon VFW Post 4731. He loved farming and was always working. After his retirement, his favorite pastime was tending to his yard. His proudest moment came when his yard was selected as Yard of the Month.

Hubert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Lou Robertson; infant son, Stephen Butler Robertson; three brothers, James Robertson, Clyde Robertson, and Hoyte Robertson; two sisters, Ruby Green and Jean Bond; daughter-in-law, Linda Robertson; and one granddaughter, Mary Kathryn Robertson.

He is survived by three sons, Greg Robertson (Janice), David Robertson (Libby), and John Eric Robertson (Sheila); one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Makamson (Kim); one sister, Janey Griggs; seven grandchildren, John Gregory Robertson, Alanna Robertson, Mary Helen Makamson, Sara Butler Makamson, Caroline Makamson, Kris Lindsey, and Chad Robb; and four great grandchildren, Elle Robertson, Christian Locke, Alyssa Hutchison, and Eli Robb.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Dr. Guy Burke officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
