Jack Evans Harper, III, 71, of Winona and formerly of Indianola, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. Jack was born on October 11, 1950, in Indianola, Mississippi, to Jack Evans Harper, Jr. and Rose Oliver Harper.
He was a graduate of Indianola High School and the Darlington School in Rome, Georgia, and attended the University of Mississippi. Jack excelled in sports, academics, and different arts at times in his life. He was involved in Boy Scouts of America for many years. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and received the "God and Country" award.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Rose Harper. Jack is survived by one sister, Semonne Harper Strawbridge of Birmingham, Alabama; and two brothers, Robert H. Harper (Lee) of Memphis, Tennessee, and William B. Harper (Alice) of McCarley, Mississippi. Jack was our big brother who, even when dealing with struggles later in life, continued to teach all of us and unite our family.
A private family service will be held in Indianola City Cemetery with Rev. Linda Malone officiating. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Life Help; P.O. Box 1505; Greenwood, MS 38930.
