James Wilson Colyer, 68, of Cleveland and formerly of Indianola, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020, at Allegiance Specialty Hospital in Greenville.

James, affectionately known as Jimmy, was born June 7, 1952, in Cleveland to Thomas Wilson Colyer and Florence Laverne Johnson Colyer. He worked for many years as a carpenter until his health failed. Jimmy was a Baptist by faith. He was plain and simple but good hearted. Jimmy dearly loved his family especially his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harvey Colyer; and one sister, Cynthia Colyer Lewis.

Jimmy is survived by one brother, Jerry Colyer and his wife Sandra of Indianola; three sisters, Peggy Cennault of Benton, Arkansas, Sherry Shelton and her husband Kenneth of Batesville, and Kathy Roby of Clarksdale; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private graveside service in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
