James Victor Gibson, 77, of Indianola, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, at Cleveland Nursing and Rehab in Cleveland. James was born April 12, 1946, in Sunflower County, to Carl Burnett Gibson and Carrie Pauline Davis Gibson. He worked for many years as a farm worker. James was a very kind man and never met a stranger. He had three true loves in life, his family, hunting, and fishing. James was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Carlene Ellis and Robbie Ratcliff; one brother, Vernon Gibson; and his significant other, Deloris Boyles. He is survived by two children, James Burnett Gibson of Indianola; and Carrie Gibson Sabin (David) of Oxford; and three grandchildren, Ricky Gibson, Lainee Sabin, and Jonathan Sabin. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Tim Howell officiating. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
