James Edward "Jimmy" Odom, 70, of Inverness, passed away December 20, 2017, in Brandon, with his loving family by his side. He was born November 24, 1947 in Aberdeen, Mississippi, and was the son of Edward Franklin Odom and Dorothy Faye Hutchins Neal. After retiring from Lewis Grocer Company, and during his 40-year career in the grocer industry, Mr. Odom served as store manager in various locations. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Inverness.
Mr. Odom was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Neal; and sister, Verda Mae Prince. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Jimbo Odom and wife Yvonne of Brandon, T. J. Odom and wife Leslie of Brevard, North Carolina; brothers, Charles Odom and wife Brenda of Stonewall, Mississippi, Terry Odom and wife Kaye of Yazoo City, Ronnie Neal and wife Sharon of Belzoni, Tod Neal of Tennessee; sisters, Doris Shepard of Greenville, Eloise Forsythe and husband Henry of Stonewall, Mississippi, Laverne Adams of Gilbertown, Alabama, Kathy Stevenson and husband Alex of Benton, Mississippi, Mary Foster and husband Owen of Winona; and grandchildren, Sarah Keeton Odom, Gray Odom, Jax Odom, Preston Odom, Greer Odom, and Adelaide Odom.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 23, 2017 from 1:00 pm until the 3:00 pm funeral service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in Greencrest Gardens in Belzoni, all under the direction of Burton Funeral Home.
