James William Waldrup, 90, of Indianola, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville.

Mr. Waldrup was born November 7, 1927 in Rudyard, Mississippi to Marion Thomas and Clara Malone Waldrup. He was a graduate of Moorhead High School. Mr. Waldrup was inducted into the United States Army in 1946 and served as a Surgical Tec at Pratt General Hospital in Coral Gables, Florida until his discharge in 1947. He moved back home and married Bettie Jean Nordan in 1950, and together they made their home in Indianola. Mr. Waldrup went to work for Billups Farms in 1952 as the store manager for one year. He then became the assistant farm manager from 1953 until 1958. Mr. Waldrup was promoted to farm manager in 1958 and worked for Billups until his retirement in 1999. He currently was employed by Planters Bank in Indianola, where he worked as a courier for several years.

Mr. Waldrup was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Jean Waldrup; son, Billy Waldrup; daughter, Beverly Waldrup McCool; two brothers, Bobby Waldrup and Charles Waldrup; and sister, Jeanette Hubbard.

He is survived by his brother, Tommy Waldrup, and wife Jane of Cleveland; two grandchildren; Lee Dickerson, and wife Merideth of Gautier; and Cristen Chrismond, and husband Douglas of Monticello, Arkansas; and four great grandchildren, Olivia Dickerson, Will Dickerson, Breanna Chrismond and Leah Chrismond.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 2:00 pm until the 3:00 pm funeral service at Eastwood Baptist Church in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
