Obituary

Janice Story Marquis, 62, of Drew, MS passed away Monday, January 30th, 2023, at North Sunflower Medical Center.

Janice was born May 30th, 1960, in Greenville, MS, to Edward Eugene and Juanita Vowell Story. She attended school in Big Rapids, MI, but would go on to graduate from Indianola Academy in 1978. She held several jobs before going to work for Life Help in 1994, where she worked until her death. In 2009, she returned to school and received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Mississippi Delta Community College in 2011. Janice had a passion for mental health, which is what pushed her to pursue her nursing degree. She was an advocate for her patients, who all loved her.

Janice was truly loved by all who knew her. Her kind heart and easy-going spirit brought much joy and many fond memories. Janice loved her family and they always came first, especially her daughter and grandbabies. One of her favorite things was to gather with friends and family, and she always brought with her that amazing smile and laugh. She was a giving person, had a love for all animals and enjoyed a beautiful Delta sunset.

Janice was preceded in death by her father, Edward Eugene Story; stepmother, Jeneanne Sharp Story; stepfather, James Wilkins; and sister, Jacqueline Westbrook.

She is survived by her daughter, Andrea McCann (Tim) of Greenville; mother, Juanita Vowell Wilkins of Ruleville; two brothers, Marvin Story (Julie) of Bay St. Louis and Bob Story (Devon) of Tuscola, Illinois; three sisters, Jean Wilkins (Earline) of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, Mary Griffin (Allen) of Drew, MS and Lois Williams (Marcus) of York, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Story McCann, Eleanor McCann, and Grey McCann; devoted friend, Malinda Hill; several nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins.
