Janie Ruth Adams Simmons passed away on July 2 ant Indywood Glen in Greenwood. A private family graveside service will be held Friday, July 9, 2021, at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Inverness with Pastor Greg Hood officiating.

She was born on May 3, 1937, to Noah and Ester Lee Adams in Baldwyn, Mississippi. She was employed by Mr. Whitty Wall, V & M Cotton Company, Ellis and Hirshberg, and Planters Bank. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Inverness.

Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Melborn Simmons; a daughter, Mary Simmons Wilson; her parents; 2 sisters; and a brother.  She is survived by a daughter, Connie Simmons Black (Mickey); a son in law, Joe Wilson of Temple, Texas; two granddaughters, Arrie Wilson Haddon and Molly Simmons Blakeney (Austin); and four great grandchildren, Meredith Haddon, Wilson Haddon, Simmons Blakeney and Lucy Blakeney.

The family wishes to offer a special word of thanks to Dr. Walter Rose, Dr. Eddie Donahoe, and to the caring staff at Indywood Glen.
