Obituary

Jean Allen Dickerson McPherson, 88 years of age, long time resident of Indianola, went home to be with the Lord on June 27th, 2021. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Edith Blanche Dickerson , her brother Sam Thomas Dickerson as well as her beloved husband, Charles Clarence McPherson.

Jean is survived by her family , brother William Hugh Dickerson and sisters Mary Faulkner and Betty Westmoreland. Jean was a devoted and loving mother to her four children , Charles Allen McPherson of Indianola, Clarence Scott (Millie) McPherson of Maitland, Fl, Rebecca Blanche (Stephen) Johnson of Fort Myers, Fl. and Kent Dorris ( Lori). McPherson of Southaven. Her life was richly blessed by the love of eight grandchildren and even more blessings came to her with the addition of five great grand-children.

Jean graduated from Indianola High school in 1951 where she was a friend to all and excelled in basketball. Jean met and married Charles in 1953 and they soon started to grow and raise their family in Indianola. Jean held many jobs while raising her family but most notable was her long career with South Sunflower County Hospital. She worked as a Business and payroll manager until her retirement . Jeans love for the Lord led her to be an active member of Second Baptist Church . She enjoyed volunteering and spending time with her church family. If a meal was needed or someone needed a ride, Jean was always there to assist. Jeans deep love and passion was showered on her family! Her door was always open , her home full of love and her table was always set with freshly baked bread and any and all of her families favorites.

Friends and family are welcome as we gather to honor our beloved "Granny Mac". Viewing visitation will be at Burton Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 6 th, 2021, from 1:00-2:00. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 with Reverend Matthew Morgan officiating . Burial and a short graveside service will follow. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Dementia Society of America/ dementiasociety.org.
