Addie Jeanette Fly Commander of Shaw passed away peacefully November 20, 2021, at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola, MS after a long battle with heart problems.  She was born December 12, 1942, to Bessie Louise Moody Fly and George Lee Fly in Shaw. Jeanette graduated from Shaw High School in 1960. She married Charles Franklin Commander in 1963. Jeanette worked for Bell South retiring after 37 years and continued work for Planters Bank in Indianola and retired after 21 years. She lived in Shaw all her life where she loved to cook and sew and take care of her flowers. She was known for her caramel cakes and cheese straws all over the Delta. Jeanette enjoyed travelling with Planters Partners on many trips. She will be remembered most as a loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and friend. She was loved by so many and will be missed.

Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles and brothers G.D. Fly and Danny Jack Fly. She is survived by her daughter, Melanie (Allen) Saffold, two grandchildren she loved dearly; Allen Bailey Saffold and Charles Wilson Saffold of Olive Branch. A brother, Carlis (Jeanie) Fly, sisters Patsy (Frank) James and Gaylene (Jimmy) Combs, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeanette was a member of Shaw Baptist Church for many years.

Many thanks to Dr. Eddie Donahoe and the staff of South Sunflower County Hospital for their care and compassion. The family thanks all who have sent text, called, visited and many prayers. Also, the neighbors and close friends who have done so much for her in the past two years.

The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola, MS. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 pm at Delta Heights Memorial Gardens in Cleveland, MS with Rev. Lee Kirk officiating. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
