Jessie Paul Davis, 90, of Indianola, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019 at South Sunflower County Hospital.

He was born May 7, 1929, in Carroll County, Mississippi to Rayborn Leroy Davis and Mary Cecil Riddle Davis. Jessie Paul worked as a lineman and construction foreman for Delta Electric for 41 years prior to his retirement in 1989. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Jessie Paul was a member of First United Methodist Church in Indianola where he was a member of Schwartz-Ward-Rose Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Indianola Masonic Lodge #450 where he served for 67 years in all offices. Jessie Paul served as the Masonic Master in 1972 and he received the 50th, 60th, and 65th year member pins. He served on the degree team as well where he supervised numerous degrees in his 67 years of service. Jessie Paul was a member of American Legion Post #2 in Indianola where he served as secretary for 8 years. He also belonged to the Indianola VFW Post #4731 where he served since the post was founded.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bertie Louise Dunn Davis; three brothers, Howard Davis, Herbert Davis, and Rayborn Davis; and one great-grandson, Will Guest.

Jessie Paul is survived by two daughters, Sandra Faye Gibson and husband Philip of Clarksdale, and Patricia Ann Jenkins and husband Mike of Brandon; son, Wayne Davis and wife Leann of Indianola; sister, Mildred Jones of Dayton, Tennessee; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jim Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
