Obituary

Jimmy Dale Lyons, 71, of Indianola, and formerly of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

Jim was born September 10, 1951, in Dumas, Arkansas, to Vincent Niblet Lyons and Louise Hargrove Lyons. He was the youngest of ten children. Jim was a Mississippi Army National Guard veteran and worked for Vlasic in Greenville as a supervisor for many years. He later became co-owner of Specialty Welding in Greenville where he worked for over 30 years prior to his retirement. Jim was a wonderful husband and father. He was extremely wise and accepting of others. Jim was always helping others whether they deserved it or not. He enjoyed casino trips, hunting, fishing, cooking, and entertaining his family and friends. His home was always open to everyone. Jim loved his family more than anything, especially his grandchildren. He was a Baptist by faith and was a member of South Haven Baptist Church in Greenville.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Louise Lyons; two sisters, Barbara Wilkerson and Frankie Daugherty; three brothers, Bill Lyons, Vince Lyons, and David Lyons; son-in-law, Daniel Escalante; niece, Toni Lynn Griffin; and nephew, Thomas "Bubba" Lyons, Jr.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Belinda Leach Lyons of Indianola; son, Jimmy D. (Memorie) Lyons of Grenada; daughter, Tina Marie Escalante of Calhoun, Georgia; two brothers, Tom (Brenda) Lyons of Indianola and Robert (Marcia) Lyons of Lake Village, Arkansas; two sisters, Mary (Sam)  Donley of Kingsland, Arkansas and Jean (Charles) Pitcox of Talpa, Texas; four grandsons, Nikkolas (April) Lyons, Caleb Lyons, Colin Lyons, and Cooper Escalante; and two great grandchildren, Oliver Lyons and Piper Lyons.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 1, 2023, from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm memorial service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
