Jimmy Sheffield, 74, of Indianola, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Saint Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Jimmy was born September 10, 1948, in Moorhead, to Nathan Robert and Emma Timbs Sheffield. He grew up and attended school in Moorhead. Jimmy went to work at SuperValu in Indianola and worked there over 30 years prior to his retirement. He was a dedicated member of Temple Baptist Church in Greenville. Jimmy was a very kind person and quiet, although he loved singing in the church choir. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Jimmy enjoyed all his years of working and he equally enjoyed his years of retirement. He liked to watch basketball and football and enjoyed going to Delta State basketball games. Jimmy loved God, his family, and his church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert "Bobby" Sheffield, Mack Sheffield, and Ed Wayne Sheffield; and three sisters, Penny Halligan, Vontice "Helen" Nicholson, and Trilby McCoy.

Jimmy is survived by one brother, Allen (Frances) Sheffield of Memphis, Tennessee; two sisters, Brenda Lassett of Indianola and June Nicholson of Greenville; brother-in-law, Waymond McCoy of Pearl; sister-in-law, Peggy Sheffield of Indianola; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, Friday, June 16, 2023, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Arthur Scott officiating. The burial will follow in Roundaway Cemetery in Doddsville. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
