Jody Lynn Evans, 46, of Inverness, passed away suddenly in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, on August 13, 2024.

Jody was born in Greenville on October 28, 1977. He was the youngest son of Jimmie and Janice Miller Evans. Jody was raised in Inverness and attended Central Delta Academy and later graduated from Indianola Academy in 1996 and Mississippi Delta Community College in 1998. Jody worked as sales manager for Bestway Ag, formerly Bell Incorporated, in Inverness since 2002. He began volunteering for the Inverness Volunteer Fire Department in 1999, worked his way up to Captain, and became Fire Chief in 2007. Jody has been an active member of Sunflower County Search and Rescue since 2010 and has been a Sunflower County Emergency Management Agency member since 2013. Jody was a member of First Baptist Church in Inverness where he served as Deacon. He was a man of faith, honor, dedication, and character and would give you the shirt off his back. His parents raised their boys to serve others, and he took that to heart, doing anything to help anyone.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Kathryn Conner Evans; son, Bann Evans; daughter, Kate Hammond Evans all of Inverness; two brothers, Lee Evans (Beth) of Inverness and John Albert Evans of Kiln; and his mother-in-law, Nancy Conner of Greenwood.
