Obituary

John Vaughan Hughes, 55, of Inverness, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 16, 2018 in Indianola.
Johnny was born June 4, 1963 in Indianola to James Rhodes Hughes and Joan Marie Vaughan Hughes. He worked for Duncan Gin in Inverness before his health failed. Johnny was a loving father, grandfather, and brother and was very well liked by all who knew him. He enjoyed sports, especially Ole Miss, hunting, and fishing.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sheila Anderson Hughes; brother, Jamie Hughes; sister, Elizabeth "Bit" Hughes Bradshaw; and brother in law, Neils Rasmussen.
He is survived by three children, Asley Hughes of Wichita, Kansas, Levi Hughes of Conway, Arkansas, and Sabrina Hughes of Inverness; four sisters, Meg Sheffield and her husband David of Lexington, North Carolina, Rachel Rasmussen of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, Katie Yates and her husband Avery of Indianola, and Annie Lott and her husband Todd of New Albany; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. A private family burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Inverness. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
