John Irvin Myers, born April 21, 1947, to Minnie Mae and Lester Warren Myers, Sr., in Isola, Mississippi, passed away July 25, 2020 in the SAAD Hospice in Mobile, Alabama from a lengthy illness.
John graduated from Isola High School in May 1965. He attended Delta State College in Cleveland, Mississippi, where he majored in math and accounting. He also received his master's degree in accounting from Delta State College. Upon receipt of his degree, he worked for Baxter Laboratories in Cleveland, Mississippi, later being transferred to Mountain Home, Arkansas. While in Arkansas, he obtained his CPA license in Arkansas and Mississippi. He later received his Alabama CPA license.
John worked for CIBA as comptroller and moved to Mobile, Alabama, where he made his home until his death. Traveling was one of John's great passions. Upon retirement, he was able to travel to over 33 different countries and man U.S. cities.
John was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Mobile, Alabama.
John leaves behind one daughter, Amanda Uowolo (Jeremy) and two grandsons, Jade and Mika of Hilo, Hawaii; one brother, Lester W. Myers, Jr. (Myra) of Isola, Mississippi; two nephews, Chris Myers (Tanya) of Collierville, Tennessee, and Peyton Myers of Silver Springs, Maryland; three great-nephews; one great-niece; and several cousins.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the family's concern for everyone's safety, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burton Funeral Home of Indianola was entrusted with arrangements.
