John Wesley Pearson, 63, of Indianola, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024, at his home.

John, affectionately known as "Big John", was born April 24, 1961, in Leland, to Charlene Love Pearson and Ben Wesley Pearson. He was a very talented welder and owned John's Welding and Repair in Indianola. Big John worked the last few years for the Sunflower County Road Department. He had a heart of gold and helped many people, but he was very strong willed. Big John enjoyed watching sports and Nascar races, but most of all he loved working and spending time with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol Kirksey Tharp.

Big John is survived by his wife, Rita Bledsoe Pearson of Indianola; daughter, Brittany Pearson of Indianola; two brothers, Paul Pearson (Nell) of Leland and Thomas Pearson (George) of Picayune; and two grandchildren, Eli McCrary and Xander Pearson.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 12, 2024, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The memorial service will begin at 4:00 pm with Rev. Tim Howell officiating. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
