Johnny Paul Walker, 80, of Indianola, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025, at his home.
Johnny was born February 8, 1945, in Ruleville, to Byron and Lovie Chandler Walker. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University. Johnny served in the Navy, where he worked as an airplane mechanic. After the Navy, he taught agricultural mechanics at Mississippi Delta Community College and owned Walker Gin Sales. He traveled around the country building cotton gins. Johnny lived a life that most people can only dream about, and he did it his way. He loved to hunt, collect Harley-Davidsons, and old cars. Johnny also served as Captain of the Patriot Guard for Sunflower County. He was a true legend in the eyes of many people.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Karen Ferracci Walker, his sister, Laura Walker, and his brother, Byron Walker.
Johnny is survived by his companion, Georgia Griffin; son, Shannon Walker; stepdaughter, Dawn Coletta; brother, Donny Walker; sister, Linda Walker Switzer; grandsons, Byron Walker and Matthew Walker; step-grandson, Brian Boyette; step-granddaughter, Ashley Boyette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Linda Malone officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
