Josie "Jo" Branscome Bennett, 84, of Pontotoc and formerly of Indianola, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Jo was born November 11, 1931, and was the daughter of Lillian and Jim Branscome. Jo began her career as a registered nurse in 1952 and retired in 1995. During these years she worked for South Sunflower County Hospital, Care Inn, and was a school nurse for the Sunflower County Schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Pontotoc.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, W. F. "Cricket" Bennett; and sister, Martha Ann Fielder. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Dena Kimbrell of Pontotoc, Mississippi, Kim Goslin and her husband Mark of Athens, Tennessee, Lisa Rolik and her husband Scott of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and grandchildren, Adam Goslin and wife Michelle, Lindsey Carden, Caitlyn Kimbrell, Hayden Kimbrell, and Gracie Kimbrell.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 13, 2016 from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Graveside services will follow in Indianola City Cemetery, all under the direction of Burton Funeral Home, Indianola.
