Lajuan Renee
Johnson
Dec 28, 1961 — Feb 28, 2021
Indianola
LaJuan Renee Johnson, 59, of Indianola, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021, at her home.
LaJuan was born December 28, 1961, in Leachville, Arkansas to Eugene and Carol Kelley Johnson. She was a ticket representative for American Airlines until her health failed. In 1990, she was diagnosed with brain cancer and underwent treatment. In 1994, the cancer returned and she and her family were told that she had little chance of survival. She underwent a 15-hour surgery and defied the odds. LaJuan was never one that liked to be told no or that she couldn't do something. She overcame the surgery and the cancer and went on with her life. Even though life was somewhat different, she was the same sweet, fun-loving, happy-go-lucky, independent LaJuan she was prior to the surgery. She still enjoyed the things she always did. LaJuan really loved to travel, especially to the beach. Since she was a child, she would go visit her Aunt Sue and Uncle B.A. during Christmas holidays. She loved going to play cards with Polly and Pat, spending time with her friends, collecting clocks, eating green M&M's, reading Maxine cartoons, and listening to Stevie Nicks music. LaJuan was not completely receptive to some technology, she hated cell phones. She had an infectious personality and everyone loved her. LaJuan had such a wonderful laid back attitude. When faced with obstacles, she would simply say "it's cool". She had pure determination in all things and never lost focus of her goals. LaJuan was an inspiration to others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Carol Johnson, and her beloved Aunt Sue Crawford and Uncle B.A. Crawford who were like her second parents.
LaJuan is survived by her two brothers, John (Amie) Johnson of Greenville and Jeff Johnson of Indianola; cousins who were like her sisters, DeeDee and Melissa; three nephews, Jonathan, Justin, and Chance; her lifetime best friends, Kathy Winstead, Deniece Frew, and Bonnie Sanders; and many other close friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Tim Howell officiating. Burial will be in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
