LaVera Hendon Morris, 85, of Shaw, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020, at Grenada Health and Rehabilitation Center in Grenada.

LaVera was born July 25, 1935, in Shaw to William Coyette Hendon and Virgie Wilma Watkins Hendon. She married Arnold Dale Morris in 1955. LaVera loved gardening and all arts and crafts. She was incredibly talented at painting and floral design and often decorated for weddings. LaVera was a dedicated member of Fairview Baptist Church in Indianola, where she sang in the choir and always made the flower arrangements for services.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Coyette and Wilma Hendon; her husband of 65 years, Arnold Morris; and grandson, Justin Morris.

LaVera is survived by son, Dale Morris (Charlye) of Cleveland; two daughters, Debi Ingram (Jeff) of Shaw, and Gwen Morris of Sturgis, Mississippi; three brothers, John Hendon (Carolyn) of Shaw, Donny Hendon (Nyleene) of Paris, Tennessee, and Elliott Hendon (Diane) of Hattiesburg; two sisters, Judi Otts (Buddy) of Shaw, and Julie Spencer (Art) of Huntsville, Alabama; four grandchildren, Luke Ingram, Denise Wartsbaugh (Charles), Heath Ingram (Monica), and Josh Morris; and nine great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 22, 2020, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Graveside services will be held following the visitation at Indianola City Cemetery. **IF THE WEATHER IS INCLEMENT, THE FUNERAL WILL BE HELD AT BURTON FUNERAL HOME.** Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
