Lee Preston Arrington, 72, of Inverness, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

He was born August 8, 1951, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to Wallace Glenwood Arrington and Edna Sheffield Arrington. He was raised in Greensboro and graduated from Grimsley High School, where he played football, baseball, and sang in the choir. After high school, Lee attended North Carolina State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting. Lee enjoyed a successful career in farming before his retirement. He loved farming, flying, Civil War history, music, and singing. His love for singing took him on competition trips in high school, and he later shared his gift of singing in the First Methodist Church choir. Lee was very generous and often joked that he would share anything but his underwear and toothbrush. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Lee adored all his grandchildren, and he was a wonderful teacher. He enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren how to do things and was always so patient with them. Everything he did was always planned around mealtime and what he was going to eat.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Edna and Wallace Arrington, and his brother, Paul Sheffield Arrington.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Debbie Palmer Arrington of Inverness; one son, Preston Arrington his wife Amy and their children Katie and Kelly of Inverness; daughter, Courtney Arrington Dunstan husband Tyler and their children Cohen, Stephen, and Haven of Durham, North Carolina; three stepsons, John Russell McPherson his wife Whitney and their children Mason and Nora of Amory, Wes McPherson wife Lynde and their children Massey, Henry and Hazel of Indianola, and Josh McPherson wife Channing and their children Lily and Jack of Cleveland; brother, Richard Arrington and wife Susie of Charleston, South Carolina; and sister, Sara Ann Haynes and husband Barry of Summerfield, North Carolina.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 24, 2024, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, at First Methodist Church in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Michael Lindsay and Michael Davis will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Southside Cemetery in Inverness. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
