Linda Janice Bowie, 74, of Indianola, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Indywood Estates in Cleveland.
Linda was born on August 26, 1949, in Greenville, to Skeets Cleveland Bowie and Helen Denson Bowie. She was raised in Greenville until her family moved to Indianola when she was 10 years old. Linda was a graduate of Indianola High School where she played on the basketball team. She was a graduate of Delta State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education. Linda was always a talented athlete and enjoyed playing basketball, softball and even bowling. After college, Linda worked for Greenville Christian School where she taught Math and coached both basketball and girls track. She was always proud that she coached the first winning girls' basketball team at Greenville Christian. Linda later went to work in advertising at SuperValu in Indianola, where she stayed for many years prior to her retirement. She was a devoted Christian and attended First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.
Linda had a wonderful family and group of friends that adored her just as much as she did them. She was incredibly supportive of her niece and nephews and attended as many of their sporting events as she could. She loved her family dearly, and, though she is gone now, they will carry her memory on every day.
