Obituary

Lois Fetterly Oliver, 92, of Byhalia, and formerly of Indianola, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital in Olive Branch.

She was born May 15, 1933, in Crivitz, Wisconsin, to James Edward Fetterly and Esther Clarissa Fay Fetterly. She worked as a teacher in her younger years and most recently as a Walmart greeter until the age of 86, when her health began to decline. Lois had a strong work ethic and loved meeting people. She enjoyed gospel music and reading. When she was younger, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making crafts, attending social events, and visiting museums. Lois was an independent woman and enjoyed doing things herself. She did not like to sit still; she always had to be doing something. Her favorite thing to do was spending time with her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Olive Branch.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 45 years, Joe Oliver, her daughter, Kathy Hodges, and her sister, Faye Cisar.

She is survived by two sons, David Oliver and wife Sue of Knox, IN, and Timothy "Tim" Oliver and wife Lisa of Byhalia; daughter, Nancy Oliver of Byhalia; two sisters, Margaret Dakins of Oconto, WI, and Susie Dupre and husband Bill Ulbricht of Eunice, LA; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 9155 Highland St., Olive Branch, MS 38654. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Olive Branch with Rev. Jerrod Brooks officiating. Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday , May 20, 2026, at Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
