Lou Vadie Lofton, 75, of Indianola, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at home with her family by her side.
Lou was born in Drew on September 8, 1950, and was a lifelong resident of Sunflower County. She worked for many years in restaurants in Indianola. Lou and her late husband, Bobby Lofton, made Custom Longbows, Flatbows, and Recurve bows starting in 1984 and sold them all over the United States, France, Italy, Germany, Taiwan, Mexico, and Canada for 18 years. She also worked at Indianola Gin Co. under manager Charles Williams until the gin's closure. Lou was a strong person; she did everything for herself and didn't ask anyone for help. She was a kind, loving, cheerful person who will be truly missed by many. Lou was a loving and caring Mamaw and best friend to many.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Catherine Hocutt Lewis; husband, Bobby Lofton; and six brothers.
She is survived by her children, Wayne Bell and Stephanie Perez (Lupe); five grandchildren, Martin Lofton, Marianna Michelle Bell, Alea Bell, Kathryn Guzman, and Carlos Guzman, all of Indianola; brother, Ben Lewis (Betty Jo) of Brandon; best friends, Martha Hoffman (Randy), Tammy Head (James), Billy Pate (Ann) and Shirley Armstrong, all of Indianola.
Lou's granddaughter, Alea Bell, was her best caretaker from the beginning until the end of her illness.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 8, 2026, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Bro. Pete Roncali officiating. Burial will follow in Drew Cemetery in Drew. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
