Velma Louise Dykes McCaskill, 83, of Indianola, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021.

Louise was born March 5, 1938, in Winfield, Alabama, to Arthur McKinley Dykes and Velma Bell Ballard Dykes. She married John Hamilton McCaskill and together, they made their home in Indianola. Louise was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Indianola. She was a member of the Methodist Women, Aldersgate Sunday School Class, and sang in the choir. Louise also enjoyed working with the Sonflowers Emmaus Community.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, John McCaskill; son, Lynn McCaskill; three brothers, James Dykes, Bill Dykes, and Tommy Dykes; and three sisters, Ruth Hales Ayres, Nell Bonds, and Dot Latham.

Louise is survived by two sons, Alan (Carmen) McCaskill of Sunflower and Brian (Kristen) McCaskill of Starkville; four granddaughters, Madison, Meredith, Anna Hartley, and Katherine; brother-in-law, Jimmy (Laura) McCaskill of Vicksburg; three sisters-in-law, Bobbye Dykes of Grenada, Alice Dykes Jordan of Coffeeville, and Peggy Dykes of Decatur, Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 12, 2021, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm, at First United Methodist Church in the Schwartz Ward Sunday School room. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm with Rev. Trey Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
