Maleese Mitchell Lanier, 96, of Cleveland and formerly of Indianola, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland. She was born November 1, 1920 and was the daughter of T.M. and Maude Allison Mitchell. Maleese worked as a Hospital Office Administrator in Tulsa, Oklahoma and moved to Indianola in the 1980's after the death of her husband. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Indianola. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Lanier; two brothers, McElrie Mitchell and Marvin Mitchell; and three sisters, Aleane Hill, Jewel Raggett, and Norene Beasley. She leaves to cherish her memory, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Charleston Cemetery, Teasdale Rd., Charleston, MS. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements.
