Margarett Bates McDaniel, 79, of Isola and formerly of Moorhead, passed away Friday, November 6, 2020 at her home.

Margarett was born February 28, 1941, in Carrollton to Lawrence and Lucille Carpenter Bates and moved to the Delta in 1947. She was Moorhead's favorite beautician for many years and even worked out of her home for several years after her retirement. Margarett was a member of Moorhead Garden Club for over 40 years. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, painting ceramics, and gardening. Margarett was a member of Moorhead Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 29 years, Julius "Mac" McDaniel; four sisters, Carline Bell, Frances Evans, Beulah Dodd, and Grace Paxton; two brothers, Bobby Gene Bates and Carl Hayden Bates; one nephew, Chuck Evans; and two nieces, Sandy Steele and Diane Paxton McCool.

Margarett is survived by her nieces and nephews, Bill (Celia) Dodd, Bobbie Gail (Danny) Bowen, Debbie Gewin, Elaine (Marty) Robinson, Scotty (Laurie) Evans, Jim (Anita) Paxton, Linda (David) Weeks, Anne (Brett) Gratz, and Beverly (Jim) Quinn; and a host of great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 10, 2020, from 2:00 pm until the 3:00 pm funeral service at Moorhead Baptist Church in Moorhead. Burial will follow in Moorhead Cemetery. Rev. Ray Bridges will officiate. Burton Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
