Martha Sue Speer Gardner, 91, of Indianola, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020, at her home.

She was born October 24, 1929, in Indianola, to William Clarence Speer and Margaret Ellen Stoltz Speer. She attended college at Mississippi University for Women and Texas Woman's University. Martha Sue was a lifelong resident of Indianola. She was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Indianola.

Martha Sue was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John William Gardner; son, Bert Deering Gardner; and two brothers, Pete Speer and Creath Speer.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Lowry Gardner Labella of Indianola; two nieces, Ellen Speer Clayton of Indianola, and Linda Speer Pemberton of Houston, Texas; and three nephews, Michael Shephard Speer of Washington, DC, William Patrick Speer of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Mark F. Speer of Houston, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at Indianola City Cemetery with Rev. Charlie Deaton officiating. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 205 E. Gresham, Indianola, MS 38751.
