Mary Joyce DePoyster Ivey, 84, of Belzoni, passed away Monday, May 11, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Yazoo City.

Ms. Ivey was born December 27, 1935, in Tishomingo County, to John Anthony Quitman DePoyster and Stella Mae Bain DePoyster. She worked for many years as a secretary in the Mississippi College Bookstore in Clinton until her retirement in 1993. Ms. Ivey was a member of First Baptist Church in Belzoni.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jack DePoyster; and her husband, John William Ivey.

Ms. Ivey is survived by one son, John W. Ivey, Jr. of Jackson; two daughters, Judy Lynne Ivey Earrey and her husband Mike of Columbus, and Jeri Ann Ivey Flowers and her husband John of Germantown, Tennessee; two brothers, James DePoyster and his wife Kay of Decatur, Alabama, and Jerry DePoyster and his wife Mary of Germantown, Maryland; one sister, Johnnie Ruth DePoyster of Belzoni; and four grandchildren, Mary Lexis Earrey, Anna Russell Earrey, Adams DePoyster Flowers, and Lela Francis Flowers.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 15, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Decaturville, Tennessee. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
