Mary Lee Johnson Steed, 72, of Indianola, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025, at South Sunflower County Hospital.

Mary Lee was born February 2, 1952, in Anguilla, to James Oscar "Jim" Johnson, Sr. and Mary Magdeline Day Johnson. She lived in Indianola for most of her life. Mary Lee owned and operated Aunt Lee's Daycare in Indianola for many years prior to her retirement. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed going to estate sales, playing with her dogs, and spending time with her family and church friends. Mary Lee was a member of Roundaway Baptist Church in Doddsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Jenkins; and husband, Jackie Steed.

Mary Lee is survived by her faithful companion, George Richard Hodge; two sons, Jeffery Eugene Myers and Christopher Dwight Myers (Suzy); five brothers, James Oscar Johnson, Jr., Kenneth Wayne Johnson (Debra Jane), Nathan Johnson (Donna), Tony Dean Johnson (Lisa), and David Leon Johnson (Charlotte); two sisters, Nancy Johnson Buza (Dennis) and Patsy Johnson Roland (Doc); four grandchildren, Anna Myers, Andrew Myers, Sara Myers, and Grace Myers; five bonus children; ten bonus grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Bob Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Roundaway Cemetery in Doddsville. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
