Matt Douglas McGregor, Jr., twenty-four, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He was the son of Julie and Matt McGregor of Indianola, Mississippi. Matt is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Proctor Knott McGregor, Jr. and Jane Carr McGregor, and his maternal grandmother Lillian Crosby Turner.
He leaves behind his maternal grandfather, Osborne Jones Turner and his wife Sammie Pickening Turner; beloved sisters and their families; Jane Allen McCrory McGregor and her husband Strider, Meredith McGregor Kavanaugh and her husband Kevin; nephews, Nichols and Crosby McCrory; niece, Vivian Kavanaugh. His much-loved girlfriend and caretaker, Anna Broome, joins with his family in mourning their loss.
Matt was a member of First United Methodist Church in Indianola. He was a 2012 graduate Indianola Academy where he was chosen as most courteous and Mr. Indianola Academy. Matt received a Geospatial Information Systems degree from Delta State University. While attending Delta State, he was a member of the Delta Beta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
His creative talents of guitar playing, and cooking were appreciated by all who knew him. Matt's greatest gift was his love and acceptance of others.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 21, 2018 from 10:00 am until the 12:00 pm funeral service at First United Methodist Church in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
