Minor Carol Dupuy, 84, of Inverness, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola. He was born on October 3, 1931. He graduated from Riverside High School and Joined the United States Air Force. Later he attended Sunflower Jr. College, the University of Southern Mississippi, and Mississippi College where he received his Master's Degree.
A career educator for 40 years, Carol spent many years in the Belzoni public schools and later was headmaster of Central Delta Academy in Inverness until his retirement.
He was active in the Rotary Club and a member of the Masonic Lodge, in which he held the 32 nd degree. An active member of Caile United Methodist Church and later Inverness United Methodist Church, Carol taught Sunday school, and held many different positions at both. Most recently he was known as the "Candy Man" to the church children because he always shared generously from his pocket full of peppermints every Sunday. He was heartbroken when he could no longer attend services due to his failing health.
Carol was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Dupuy, Jr., and brother, H. E. Dupuy, III. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wesie Stewart Dupuy of Inverness; twin sister, Carolyn (Bill) Mitchell of Kosciusko; sisters, Martha (Eldridge) Fleming of Tupelo, Frances (Bill) Cox of Tyler, Texas, and Sarah (Jim) White of Birmingham; sisters-in-law, Pat Stewart and Donnie Stewart, both of Albuquerque, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held Thursday, September 29 th at 11:00 a.m. at Inverness United Methodist Church with Rev. Owen Weddle and Rev. John Moore officiating. Visitation will begin at the church one hour before service time, all under the direction of Burton Funeral Home of Indianola.
