Mitchell Roby Pearson, 81, died Saturday, September 5, 2020. Private family graveside services will be Thursday, September 10, 2020. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Pearson was a member of the Belzoni First United Methodist Church, where he served on the Administrative Board and the Finance Committee. He also served cheerfully and faithfully as usher and doorkeeper, greeting the children with pats on the cheeks and pet names.

He attended Belzoni High School and Mississippi State University. He was an avid Bulldog fan and a long-time member of the Bulldog Club. He had been a cotton ginner and was a catfish farmer. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Consolidated Catfish Company, Delta Western Feed Mill, and Catfish Farmers of America.

Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, W.A. and Lena Horton Pearson; and two brothers, Melvin Owen Pearson and Juan Allen Pearson.

Survivors include: Wife, Lahlete Young Pearson; sons, Perry Pearson, of Indianola, Pat Pearson of Belzoni, and Paul (Lauren) Pearson of Brandon; Grandchildren, Kristen, Rica, Maci, Palmer, and Sara Reed; sisters, Patricia (John) Little of Big Fork, Montana, and Gwen (Steve) Hopkins of Rogers, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Belzoni Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 520, Belzoni, MS 39038.
