Mollie Ables Smith, 97, of Inverness, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Delta Health Medical Center in Greenville.
Mollie was born January 6, 1929, in Attala County to Levi Martin Ables and Beulah Watson Ables. She enjoyed growing and tending to her daylilies and working in her yard. Mollie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Nothing brought her greater joy than her granddaughter and great-grandsons. Mollie was a member of Inverness Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Edwin Smith; three sisters, Frankie Lloyd (Henry), Glenda Lawshae, and Marilyn Castle; and brother-in-law, Charles W. Smith.
Mollie is survived by her daughter, Sandra Vance (Larry) of Indianola; sister, Virginia Smith of Inverness; two brothers-in-law, Bubba Lawshae and Billy Castle; granddaughter, Amanda Vance Polasini (John); two great-grandsons, Kaid Polasini and Reeves Polasini; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Linda Malone officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Inverness. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
