Oscar O'Neal Matthews, affectionately known as Deddle or Doc, 76, of Leland, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at his home with his loving family by his side. Oscar was born in Mississippi County, Arkansas, and was the son of Leonard and Elvie Matthews.

Oscar was a mechanic – a jack of all trades, and could fix anything! He loved to stay busy and was a collector of things he could work on, especially washers, dryers, and computers. He loved to cook and have his family around to enjoy what he prepared.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Matthews. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Brenda Matthews of Leland; brother, Sam Matthews and his wife Janice of Indianola; sisters, Lucy May of Mathiston, Frances Redwine and her husband Bobby of Leland, Patricia Redwine of Mathiston, Linda Milan and her husband Lawrence of Leland; thirty one nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews; other family and close friends.

The family will receive friends, Friday, September 18, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Burton Funeral Home, Indianola. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 10:00 am at Burton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crowder Cemetery, Crowder, all under the direction of Burton Funeral Home.
