Obituary

Oscar Riley, 83, of Holcomb, passed away at home on Monday, September 16, 2024.

Oscar was born in Holly Bluff on September 30, 1940, to Lonnie and Maudie Mae Lowery Riley. He served in the Mississippi Army National Guard and worked as an electrician and a farmer for many years prior to his retirement. Oscar loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with them, attending their sports events, and taking them fishing. Oscar also enjoyed hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Annette Riley; two sisters, Bessie Campbell and Judy Freeman; and two brothers, LD Riley and Roy Riley.

Oscar is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Julia Riley of Holcomb; son, Bo Riley (Babs) of Holcomb; one brother, Ronnie Riley of Canton; two sisters, Debbie (David) Sellers of Holly Bluff and Kathy Woods of Yazoo City; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Ken Salley officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola Memorial Gardens. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
