Polly Williams Lewis, 80, of Indianola, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Polly was born in Indianola on March 6, 1944, to William Albert Williams and Eunice Harrison Williams. She was a lifelong resident of Indianola and attended Indianola High School. Polly worked in purchasing at South Sunflower County Hospital for over 35 years before her retirement. She loved her family and was the rock that held them together. Polly never met a stranger and always showed love to everyone she met. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, eating with her friends, and riding the backroads. Polly was a special lady and positively impacted everyone she met. She was famous for her chicken and dumplings. Polly also enjoyed being everyone's therapist, always listening to everyone's problems and giving advice. Her main goal in life was to keep her family close to each other.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Hoyet Lewis of Cleveland; three daughters, Fran Slawson of Indianola, Lisa White (Jay) of Inverness, and Carol Kuhn of Indianola; brother, Charles Edward Williams (Frances) of Indianola; four grandchildren, Krissy Morganti, Xan Steed (Morgan), Morgan Slawson, and Bryan Marquis; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Dean (Landie) and Emma Marquis; one great - great grandchild, Mason Dean and another one on the way.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 22, 2024, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at Eastwood Baptist Church in Indianola. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jimmy Pender officiating. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
