Raymond Elmer Griffin, 93, of Indianola died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson. Mr. Griffin was born November 30, 1922 in Gordo, Alabama and was the son of Dowling Terrance Griffin and Mary Trannie Reynolds Griffin. He was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II and was a Mason for 60 years. Mr. Griffin was retired from Jimmy Sanders Seed.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William L. Griffin and Samuel L. Griffin; one sister, Mildred Hairston; and one grandson, Christopher J. Dill.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Lenora Adams Griffin of Indianola; son, Ronnie Edward Griffin and his wife Lisa of Indianola; two daughters, Rosemary Dill of Clinton and Karen Lorraine Sorrells and husband Douglas of Corryton, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Justin Griffin and his wife Kitty, Angela Sanders and husband Danny, Kelon Dill and his wife Susie, Ragan Sorrells, and Landon Sorrells; two step grandchildren, Kenneth Mullen and Rhonda Mullen; and six great grandchildren, Devyon Sanders, Sierra Sanders, Kylee Griffin, Emma Kate Griffin, Ansley Dill, and Kaden Dill.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 9, 2016 from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm funeral service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola Memorial Gardens. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements.
