Obituary

Richard Barry Moyer, from Sunflower, went on to be with Jesus on October 12, 2017, after suffering a massive heart attack.

Rick was born October 8, 1960 in Lansing, Michigan to Barry Russell Moyer and Carolyn Weaver Moyer. He graduated from Everett High School in Lansing, Michigan in 1978 and from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's in general studies. Thereafter, he earned his master's in aquaculture from Auburn University. Rick was the owner of Quiver River Aquaculture in Sunflower, Mississippi. In 2014, he was named Catfish Farmer of the Year by The Catfish Institute. Rick was an avid sportsman and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, working outdoors, and traveling. He was a Lieutenant with the Sunflower Volunteer Fire Department, was a member of Sunflower County Search and Rescue, and Catfish Farmers of America.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Weaver Moyer.

He leaves behind his father, Barry Russell Moyer of Portland, Michigan; his wife, Derenda Moyer; sisters, Dawn Gibbs (Keith) of Eaton Rapids, Michigan and Pam Bell of Chicago, Illinois; two children, Blake Moyer and Breanna Moyer; one grandson, Brice Moyer all of Arlington, Tennessee; three nieces and three nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shepherds Haven, 175 Shepherds Haven Way, Arlington, TN 38002 or charity of your choice in Rick's honor.

The family will receive friends at an open house visitation Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at 6712 Long Road, Arlington, Tennessee 38802, a second visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm memorial service Monday, October 16, 2017 at Burton Funeral Home, 634 Highway 82 West, Indianola, Mississippi 38751. Burton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
