Robert Allen Black, affectionately known as Bobby, 77, of Greenville passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born October 11, 1939 in Gunnison, Mississippi and was the son of Jim and Velma Rodgers Black. Bobby was raised in Moorhead and married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Williams, on February 15, 1960. He and Patricia owned and operated Pap's Produce in Indianola until their retirement in 2001. Bobby was a very kind man and loved his family. He will always be remembered for his caring nature and how he loved to help people.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Billy Black.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years, Patricia Ann Williams Black; one daughter, Tammy Black Oakes and her husband Luther of Greenville; one son, David Allen Black of Grenada; two sisters, Mary Sisk of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Hazel Pierce of Indianola; three grandchildren, Dr. Luther Brandon Oakes, Joshua Allen Oakes, and Kayla Pearl Black; and four great granddaughters, Chloe Oakes, Ann Marie Oakes, Lily Oakes, and Maria Bella Oakes.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm funeral service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in Moorhead Cemetery, all under the direction of Burton Funeral Home of Indianola.
